me

me_orangeglasses_inloveHi. My name is Adam Bohannon and I’m a cultural anthropologist and independent consultant living on the West Coast.  I spend my days working as a community manager for the DC-based startup, LivingSocial while also occasionally helping orgs think about where they might want to go with new media and speaking on topics related to media, culture and education.

I’m passionate about exploring the impact of media on people, societies and cultures. In addition to assisting with an ethnography of YouTube, I’ve done research on the influence of internet-mediated communication on identity formation and culture.

In an effort to pursue this passion, I’ve recently applied to interdisciplinary graduate communication programs. My ambition is to research topics related to identity, context, privacy, the posthuman and emergent forms of social organization in the network society.  I’ve also recently become interested in the social psychological dynamics of fame in contemporary culture.
