Yea, new media have really caught on, for better or worse. From my vantage point, the paradox is the people who are driving us to the bottom (primarily marketing folks of all stripes) are also the same people who are perceptive enough to ride ahead of the wave and know when it's going to break. I suppose our job, those of us who dare attempt to control the ocean, should be to keep an eye on these trendspotters and do whatever we can early to stem the negative effects of technology (ab)use.
